In October 2010 the Maryland Child Support Guidelines used by the courts in deciding all child support cases in the state of Maryland were modified causing potential changes in the amount of child support that has been awarded or may be awarded in a child support case. Also Effective October 2010 new laws concerning powers of attorney went into effect. The new laws include provisions regarding both General Powers of Attorney and Limited Powers of Attorneys and have been modified to provide that if legal action must be taken to force someone to accept a valid power of attorney then reasonable attorneys fees may be awarded.
